Information about new firmware versions for BlueCrypt-ISDN devices

To provide ISDN lines for existing ISDN installations, providers favor more and more other media for the trans-mission of ISDN connections in wide area networks. Normally the ISDN protocol needs a continuous clock  between both ISDN terminals. According to the valid ISDN standards, this continuous ISDN clock is mandatory. While using different media for the transmission of ISDN connections, no continuous clock is used for the  transmission of the ISDN connections. An asynchronous signaling (D-channel) is caused within the signaling process.

Due to this asynchronous behavior, a data loss in one direction of the transmission way is caused. Always data losses make the establishment of the encryption much more difficult, seldom the establishment of the encryption

completely fail. We quote for example the ISDN connections between Europe and the Peoples Republic of China.

Additionally, for long distance connections via ISDN, for example Germany – China, a high delay of the signaling is very common. For security reasons, DICA BlueCrypt devices always use a timeout value to limit the time for the establishment of the encryption. The default value for this setting is 3000ms. It is recommended to increase this value to 6000ms, to ensure a proper encryption for wide area connections.

To solve the problems described above, DICA introduced completely new firmware versions for all BlueCrypt ISDN devices.
